The Last Becomes the First; The First Becomes the Last

The endless movement of the universe, including our relative world, brings constant change from one sate to another, and a return always to the previous state. The balance becomes imbalanced, the imbalance becomes balanced, yin produces yang, yang produces yin. The cycle of each day brings a repeating alteration of light and darkness; and of each year, an alternation of warm seasons and cold seasons. Cycles in celestial change include the cycles of solar activity, the cycle of the wobbling motion of the earth, the cycle of the motion and the solar system within the Milky Way Galaxy.

A society begins; then, it ends; then it begins and ends again. Life begins with birth and ends at death; but from death, new life begins. Every phenomena expanding outward, eventually contracts towards the center, and when it contracts, it begins to expand again. Therefore, the beginning is the end, and the end is the beginning: the first is the last, and the last is the first. Alpha is omega, omega is alpha.

When we are at the foot of the mountain, we are able to reach to the top. When we are at the bottom of society, we will eventually attain the top of society. When we reach the top of society, we must inevitably decline towards the bottom. The rich becomes the poor, the poor becomes the rich; the wise becomes the foolish, the foolish becomes the wise. Sickness produces health, and health produces sickness. War changes into peace; peace changes into wars. The taller the tree is, the stronger, the stronger is the wind, which blows through its high branches. The lower the grass is the gentler the breeze, which touches it. Therefore, if we stay behind people, we never receive any strong attack or opposition, and if we stay at a low level we never experience falling down. Therefore, if we become higher, we should bow to more people, and at that time, continuing to live in the spirit of modesty and humbleness, we harmonize our destiny: the last becomes first, the first becomes the last. When we become lower, we should keep our ambitious and adventurous spirit, which is making harmony in our life among the vicissitude of this relative world.
