Darlene was raised on an all natural farm until she was 16 but it wasn't until years later when she developed food allergies that she took a real interest in natural foods.

She has been producing artwork through her company, Van-garde Imagery, Inc., since 1992. Her emphasis is on enhancing the clear communication of the message of the published piece, starting with a detailed understanding of that message, and then developing designs which integrate with it. She has worked with companies such as American Philosophical Society, Smithsonian Books, Johns Hopkins University Press, Panama Today Magazine and others.

Darlene, along with her husband, have extensive publishing experience: college text books, magazines, collateral, technical and graphic art programs, photo-real 3D illustrations, digital image manipulation, restoration, and composition, and more!
